LANDIS GARNERS EMOTIONAL SUPERPRO WIN AT PLYMOUTH

TOM SMITH IS THE CHAMP

     Earlier this week, Jack Landis Sr. passed away after a long illness. On Saturday, his son Jack and his family attend funeral services for the elder Landis. Sunday afternoon, the junior Landis took the lead on lap 53 and went on to win the Randercar Racing 75 for the SUPERPRO Series at Plymouth Speedway in Plymouth, Indiana.  In victory lane, an emotional Landis dedicated his win to his late father.

 

     Tom Smith’s seventh place finish wrapped up the 2009 SUPERPRO Series championship by 31 points over runner up Mike Kugler. The Tinley Park, Illinois driver won two races and finished in the top 10 seven times to garner his first SUPERPRO title.

LANDIS FINALLY CAPTURES GOLD CUP

     In 2007, Jack Landis was leading the SUPERPRO Series International Trucks Gold Cup 100 when a failed ignition cost him victory. Last year, he blew an engine after taking the white flag while leading. Saturday night, he led the final 67 laps around the ½ mile Baer Field Speedway to capture the twelfth annual classic.

KUGLER KOPS ANGOLA SUPERRO

Stroh, Indiana veteran Mike Kugler took the lead on lap 44 and held off a late race charge by fast qualifier Jason Dietsch to win the SUPERPRO Series Engineered Systems 75 Presented by Penske Racing Shocks, Turbo Blue Racing Fuel and Corrigan Oil Saturday night at Angola Motor Speedway.

DIETSCH SNAGS SUPERPRO WIN AT SPARTAN

     Edgerton, Ohio veteran Jason Dietsch took the lead with ten laps to go and went on to win the Team Tech Motorsports 75 Presented by Lipari Foods Friday night at Spartan Speedway in Mason, Michigan.

     Rookie contenders Mark Hankowsky and Kyle Hayden brought the 19 car field to the green with Hayden jumping to the early lead. The first caution came out on lap 3 when Terry Bogusz and Ryan Inman got together on the front stretch sending both to the pits for repairs. Rick Everidge's season of bad luck continued as he went out on lap 4 with motor trouble.

      Hayden held his advantage until point leader Tom Smith began to challenge on lap 5. Hayden and Smith ran side by side for the next fifteen laps before Smith took over the top spot. At the halfway point, it was Smith, Hayden, Rob Buckley, Dietsch, Andy Marchiniak, Derek Bischak, Hankowsky, and Brian Bauman.

SMITH GOES TWO IN A ROW IN SUPERPRO

     Veteran Tom Smith took the lead from Jack Smith on lap 38 and went on to win the "Five Star Racing Bodies 75" SUPERPRO feature event Saturday night at Baer Field Speedway.

     Jack Smith and Steven Brooks brought the 20 car field down to the green with Smith jumping into the early lead. Tom Smith took second from Brooks on lap six and fast qualifier Mike Kugler grabbed fourth one lap later. Rick Everidge's terrible 2009 luck continued with mechanical failure on lap nine bringing out the first caution.
