Rise and shine campers! It’s cross season and it’s fall, and that means we all realize that our fitness is about to collapse under the weight of daylight savings time. Rather than eat my feelings, the south side dwelling SuperPros have instituted
the “Ass Crack of Dawn Ride” (hereafter, Ass Crack) to combat the lethargy that traditionally accompanies shorter and potentially colder days ahead. Much to our own amazement, all of us (Chava, Lina, Zach, May, Dustin & L.C.) made it to new hip spot Cafeto by 6.30. High praise to Cafeto for being open! We hustled over to McClaren in the dark, peaking over the east side just as the sun was rising (and it was getting toastier by the second! So much for cold weather).
We did a not-so-hot lap and then a hot-lap, some barriers and some ride-ups (run-ups for those of us sans coffee). Traveling through the City in and out at this hour was delightful- pretty much car-free until we got to the highway entrances.
Anyways, everyone had most of their bike working when we rolled down Mission St to check out second hip spot of the morning, Coffeeshop. This awesome shop is run by cyclist Wilson, who rides his own Ass Crack ride from the Sunset to the SoCha/ La Lengua every morning. His coffee is lovely, his spirit is indomitable, and if you can find his shop on FourSquare, half off your coffee with first check in! Here Zach and Lina show enthusiasm for coffee consumption:
I am hopeful that we do not sink into the autumn of our discontent and instead are able to continue this lovely morning ride! Three cheers to my teammates and the caffeine that fuels us.
